Yaesu PC Headset Interface

How a Cheap PC Headset can be used on an Ham Rig.

Tom needed an article for the Club newsletter and I had this idea for a headset for the FT-897D. A PC Headset is a great project for this, since it's limited fidelity is actually an improvement over high fidelity headphones. All we need is 300hz to 3000hz of audio.

This was a quick Sunday afternoon project.

Plug into the Mic jack and the phone jack on the radio and you still have UP / DOWN and / FAST tune buttons available.

The Big Red PTT button is a take out from some electronic ditrious, the UP / DOWN / FAST buttons are 'tactile switches'. The gray trimpot adjusts mic gain.
